Mary van der Aa creates some of the most beautiful pieces! I’m honored to have some very custom works of art. More so because she is the real deal, a heart that is full of a graciousness you just don’t see every day. Excited to work with her again very soon. She takes her time, making sure to catch every detail, even if no one will ever see it. When I had her do a custom piece that was important to me she took the time to create something to match my life now.

GEMSTONE INFO 2.jpg

SAPPHIRE

Sapphire is one of the “big three” of jewelry colored gemstones—the other two being ruby and emerald. When shopping for sapphire, be sure to ask if the stone has been treated. A naturally colored sapphire will fetch far more money, and has more value, than one that has been altered. Sapphires come in a multitude of colors, and when they are red, they are rubies! Sapphires captivate their audience with their durability, rarity and aura of romance. For centuries, sapphire has been associated with royalty. Traditionally, they symbolize nobility, truth, sincerity, and faithfulness. Large blue sapphires are very rare, and market price reflects that. Sapphire is the birthstone for September, the gemstone for Taurus and Aquarius, and the gem of the 5th and 45th anniversaries. It has a hardness of 9.0, making it very durable for everyday wear with proper care. More about Sapphire HERE

MAHENGE GARNET

These radiant gems exhibit an array of colors from rich plums and pinks to the elusive and highly-sought after peach, which has become nearly impossible to find. Mahenge Garnets hail from Mahenge, Tanzania, and the material is no longer available. Each stone is hand-selected and faceted to be of the utmost standards. These beautiful, show-stopping gems are a unique and colorful addition to any jewelry collection. Garnet is the birthstone for January, and the gemstone for Aquarius and Aries. It is the gem for the 2nd, 15th and 19th anniversaries. Garnets have fair to good toughness, and a hardness of 6.5–7.5, making them very durable for everyday wear with proper care.
